Overview of the Global Talent Independent Program

The Global Talent Independent (GTI) program is designed to grow Australia’s innovation and tech economies and create opportunities for Australians by transferring skills, promoting innovation, and creating jobs. The Australian government is currently seeking the best and brightest global talent in the following ten future-focused sectors:

The GTI program provides a streamlined pathway to permanent residence for highly skilled executives, entrepreneurs, and professionals from around the world. The program is seeking applicants who can bring exceptional talent to Australia, have the ability to make a significant economic impact as an innovator, can commercialize ideas at scale, or can generate employment to fill critical talent gaps.

Individuals assessed as having unique skill sets, an ongoing track record of outstanding achievements, and an international reputation in a specific future-focused sector will be invited to apply for permanent residence. Australian permanent residence provides applicants and their immediate families the opportunity to work, study, and live in Australia indefinitely.

  • Have the ability to attract a salary at or above the Australian Fair Work High Income Threshold
  • Meet Australia’s health and character assessments
  • Secure a nomination from an appropriate Australian individual or organization
